Twelve seconds from yesterday I saw the delicate curve of your face tilt towards the sun and you whispered, "This is my forever."

You simply didn't know that forever is a lie. A lie unrecognizable to those (often) under the age of thirty...or thirty five...or something younger. Something younger that is willing to act...older.

With smiles like summer candy melting from our fingertips, we drenched ourselves in the waves of placid wonderment...wilderness that brought a shiny texture to my eyelashes in the vapid heat.

This is anything but my forever. Age has brought about the knowledge that a mere twelve seconds is long enough for a lifetime of change. For a face to dip lower with a look you thought private.

The years have sang to me on the wings of my own fate, that forever is a fantasy only for the younger at heart than even my pink locks will allow. Hues fade. So do whispers. Images stay.

If you're looking for permanence in a time where the town still looks backward via glasses of sky colored romance - look no further than the images that are beginning to vanish from my memories.

They are people with tastes of flesh that I can no longer completely reconcile with reality...certainly not with forever. The slightest shivers now bring foreboding - sans your whispered words.

Placid are those that are weak - that talk to me in codes and rhymes. Speak forward - but speak not of forever. Be true - but do not show me farther than I am willing to reach within stunted options.
